Music Lessons for Every Age
From young beginners to adult learners, our lessons are designed for students of every age. Because children, teens, and adults learn differently, our faculty adapt their teaching approach to each age group, ensuring an engaging and supportive learning experience.
Children thrive in a learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and steady progress. Our teachers use age-appropriate teaching methods that make learning enjoyable while establishing a strong musical foundation.
Adults come to music with different interests and goals. Whether you are learning for the first time or returning after many years, we help you progress at a comfortable pace while enjoying the music you love.
How Our Lessons Work
Our lesson program is designed to provide consistent instruction, a well-structured learning experience, and opportunities for steady musical progress. We welcome new students at any time during the year. Here is what you can expect when you enroll at Preston Harmony.
Weekly Lessons
Students may choose from 30-, 45-, or 60-minute private lessons. Lessons are primarily taught in person at our North Dallas studio, with virtual lessons available upon request.
During the Fall and Spring semesters, students attend lessons once a week on the same day and time with the same instructor, which is crucial for consistency that supports steady musical progress. During the summer, families may choose a more flexible schedule to accommodate vacations and other activities while continuing to be engaged with music lessons.
Most students begin with 30-minute lessons and transition to longer lesson lengths as they advance. We typically recommend 45- or 60-minute lessons for older and more experienced students.
Lesson Calendar
Our lesson calendar is designed to align with most local school breaks, making it easier for families to plan vacations and other activities throughout the year.
The school year is divided into three terms:
-
Fall Semester (mid-August through December): 16 regular lessons plus recital
-
Spring Semester (January through May): 18 regular lessons plus recital
-
Summer Sessions (June through mid-August): 8 lessons
Recitals are included as part of the lesson program. Participation is encouraged but not required. For complete lesson and event dates, as well as holidays and breaks, please see our School Calendar.
Enrollment
We open year-round for lessons and we welcome students at any time. Our one-on-one lessons allow learning at the students' own pace and timeline. New students may enroll at any time during the year. There are no long-term contracts, and tuition is billed in equal monthly installments. Your first payment is simply prorated based on your start date.
Flexible Schedule Option
For busy adults and others who need scheduling flexibility, we also offer a Flexible Schedule program with single lessons and four-lesson packages that can be scheduled around your availability. This option is also great for short-term coaching for students preparing for performance, auditions, or competitions. Learn more about our Flexible Schedule Lessons.

Free Trial Lesson

We believe that finding the right teacher is essential to a successful learning experience. That is why we invite every new student to attend a free trial lesson before enrolling. The trial lesson gives you the opportunity to meet your instructor, experience a lesson, and visit our school.
Each new student receives one complimentary 30-minute private trial lesson, regardless of the lesson length they plan to enroll in. If you would like to meet more instructors before making a decision, additional 30-minute trial lessons may be scheduled at a reduced rate of $35 per lesson. Each student may attend a maximum of three trial lessons per instrument.
